IF 6 WAS 9 - BC183 MKII Fuzz
Iconic Fuzz Face Tone
If there is one pedal that captures the history of sonic rebellion and the soul of classic rock then the Fuzz Face is it.
Bold and raunchy when fed power chords velvety smooth and soaring when presented with lead lines and with a volume knob cleanup that allows for exceptionally clean tones the Fuzz Face is a multi faceted tonal classic.
Jimi Hendrix Eric Johnson Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pete Townshend all helped define their sound with this iconic fuzz design. The If 6 Was 9 BC183 MKII Silicon Fuzz Face delivers those classic tones while offering expanded tonal flexibility.
It has been more than a decade since the original If 6 Was 9 BC183 was introduced. The updated MKII version uses specially selected components and a pair of BC183 transistors widely regarded as a balance between the compression of germanium fuzz and the aggressive character of silicon fuzz.
The If 6 Was 9 BC183 MKII delivers smooth refined fuzz tones that maintain clarity on chords while providing sustain for single note playing.
The MKII retains the core sound of the original design while adding several modern features including an adjustable power supply that allows the pedal to operate between 5 and 15VDC from a single 9V power source.
Variable Voltage Control
The variable voltage control allows you to dial in the exact voltage you prefer. Lower voltages can create sputtering compressed tones while higher voltages provide a more powerful saturated response.
BC183 Transistors
The BC183 transistor offers characteristics between germanium and silicon fuzz designs combining compression with a more aggressive edge.
Bias Control
The Bias control allows you to adjust the transistor bias to refine the fuzz response. This changes the output transistor collector voltage and provides a wide tonal range from compressed and aggressive to larger more open fuzz sounds.
